Antique American Plein Air Oil, River Landscape, Inscribed Swick, Early 20th C
A small American plein-air landscape in oil, spring trees in fresh yellow-green leaf along a sunlit path beside still water, the far bank dissolving into soft haze, worked in a lavender, gold, and green spring palette. The painting is on Devoe artists' canvas board, the verso retaining the printed Devoe of New York label with a cursive 'Swick' written across it. That name is an inscription on the supply label, not a signature on the front, so 'Swick' as the artist is a reasonable guess but unverified; no listed painter of that name with an established market was found. The Devoe canvas board points to the early 20th century rather than the 1800s. Visible brushwork is consistent with a genuine hand-painted oil. In a simple gilt wood frame.
Canvas sound. Surface wear consistent with age. Displays well as found.
