Antique English Fruit Still Life, Oil on Canvas - Signed, c.1900

A signed fruit still life in oil on canvas, English school, late 19th to early 20th century. Grapes, pears, a peach and an apple rest on a mossy bank beneath a turning vine leaf, painted in the warm, dark-ground naturalism popular across this period. The handling is loose and confident, with ripe impasto on the fruit and a fine craquelure across the surface consistent with age. The reverse carries a London colourman's stamp, indicating an English-prepared canvas, and retains its keyed wooden stretcher. Signed in red at the lower right; the signature is not fully legible. Presented unframed, canvas measures 20 by 16 inches, with minor surface grime and light wear in keeping with its age.
