A clear glass cloche paired with an ornate cast-metal base for display. The base is cast with acanthus scrollwork, cartouche panels, and three substantial paw feet, in a warm silver-pewter finish; a central opening shows it was originally a lamp base, repurposed here as a dome stand. The two elements are a decorative marriage rather than a matched antique set, and the base's age is undetermined. The effect is handsome: a stage for a bust, a specimen, a shell, a pocket watch, or any small object worth elevating. The glass dome is clear and sound.
