Pair Spanish or Italian Wrought Iron 3-Arm Pricket Wall Sconces, 18th C.
A pair of hand-forged wrought iron three-arm pricket wall sconces, Spanish or Italian, with a worn polychrome and gilt surface. Three scrolling arms issue from a shaped leaf-form backplate, each ending in a dished drip pan and a central pricket spike for candles. The forging is irregular and hand-worked throughout, and the two sconces match closely as a true pair. The seller dates them to the 18th century; the construction and applied gilt finish are also consistent with later Spanish-style decorative ironwork, so the date is recorded as the seller's attribution rather than independently confirmed. Wrought iron with polychrome and gilt remnants, 12 x 12 x 8 in. each. For candle use; sold as a pair.
Good. Original dark patina with deep age wear and surface oxidation consistent with period. Ironwork structurally sound. Drip pans intact.
