Vintage European Impressionist Oil, Spring Blossom Landscape, Figures, Unsigned
A decorative European impressionist-style oil, a spring landscape of blossoming fruit trees along a path with yellow forsythia in the foreground and small figures strolling under the canopy. The paint is handled in the broken, plein-air manner of academic impressionism, the blossoms built up in real impasto; the visible brushwork is consistent with a competent hand-painted original. The work is unsigned and undated, so the Continental-school attribution is a reading of style, not a documented fact, and the date can only be estimated to the first half of the 20th century. Oil on board per the seller; the support is not confirmable from photos. Framed in a mid-20th-century pale grey-washed reeded wood frame.
Board sound. Some surface wear and minor losses to backing paper. Displays beautifully as found. Frame in good condition.
